REDCap at KSU

Overview

A secure web application developed at Vanderbilt University for building and managing online surveys and databases.  It is commonly used for clinical and translational research and is designed to be capable of compliance with many standards when run in a suitably installed and maintained environment.

The software is distributed and supported through its REDCap consortium, which is a group of 5900 institutional partners.  There are over 2 million end-users of the software.

@KSU

KSU has been able to provide REDCap to support research by contracting with Vanderbilt University.  At this time, KSU does not allow the use of REDCap with sensitive data.  If you are unsure about the data in your project, there are definitions in the KSU policy, or reach out to service@kennesaw.edu.

In order to use REDCap for your project:

  1. Communicate with UITS/Research via a service technology ticket or form.
  2. Have an IRB number.
  3. You will need a budget of at least $164/month. (As of 2022, a 3-year commitment cost the project nearly $6,000)
  4. The  purchase will have to go through the contract review process. (Note: That Vanderbilt's DataCore is already a vendor is a benefit to this step)
