X-Lab: Fight with Diseases – Computational Biology

Goals

Along with the NIH mission, our lab is committed to seeking fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability.

Our goals in this COVID19-related project:

  • To investigate the roles of lipid raft in SARS-CoV-2 NTD
  • To understand the protein-protein interactions between lipid raft and human ACE2
  • To simulate molecular dynamics in protein complex structures
  • To analyze salt bridge and hydrogen bonds
  • To design algorithms for binding affinity prediction

Experience Gained

  • Investigate biological mechanisms using computing techniques
  • Algorithm design and optimization in computational biology
  • Data analysis and visualization skills using Python or R

Majors and Interests Needed

  • Passion to contribute to the health industry
  • Computer programming experience
  • Fundamental machine learning and deep knowledge
  • Fundamental physics, biology, and chemistry knowledge
