Serving the KSU Community

Here, we showcase our ongoing projects, research endeavors and innovative initiatives aimed at transforming education and making a positive impact on the community. Our goal is to provide support and service to our dedicated faculty members, students and collaborators to shape the future of education through research, advocacy and community engagement.

  • The Campus to Community Forum is a new series developed by KSU’s Office of Economic Development and Community Engagement to bring together University and industry experts to engage in a dialogue about some of the state’s most pressing topics.

The series debuted Sept. 29 with a discussion centered on Georgia's tourism industry, featuring panelists Leonard Jackson, director of KSU’s Hospitality Management program, Kim Franz, director of programs and events for Cobb Travel & Tourism, and Dale Kaetzel, park president for Six Flags Over Georgia, who discuss the challenges and the future of an industry that currently supports more than 410,000 jobs across the state.

Here's a look at the four Campus to Community Forums that the Office of Economic Development and Community Engagement will host this academic year:
    Tourism, Sept. 29
    Housing, Nov. 7
    Community Improvement Districts, Feb. 9
    Small business development, April 25

  • Community Impact Day is a free, public event hosted in the spring designed to showcase the outreach and engagement efforts across all KSU's colleges and other university units. The inagural Community Impact Day was hosted on April 11, 2022.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about KSU’s long-standing and continuous efforts in community outreach and engagement through the presentations of students and faculty.

We are pleased to invite all members of our community to join this event and learn more about the university's efforts towards engagement in the “Community” pillar in the Roadmap to R2 Success. We look forward to seeing you on campus!

  • In partnership with Cobb County School District, SETS is a program designed to help facilitate students’ transition from school to post-school realities. Students focus on developing independent life skills as they are introduced to adult responsibilities and situations through volunteer opportunities within businesses on the KSU campuses. The SETS Program provides students a variety of opportunities to become contributing members of society.

Monday – Thursday: Students participate in independent skills training.

Friday: Students participate in community-based instruction (CBI) which promotes
    independent adult living skills.
