2021-2022 Activities

  • The 2021 Empty Bowls event took place on Thursday, Nov 4, 2021 as a part of Homelessness Awareness Week (HAW). The Office of Economic Development and Community Engagement facilitate this event in partnership with the College of the Arts and University Dining. Empty Bowls is a grassroots effort by artists in cities and towns across the country and world and has raised millions of dollars to help end hunger. This was the fifth year of Empty Bowls @KSU during HAW week. With each ticket purchase, the participant received a hand-crafted bowl produced by KSU students from the College of the Arts and a meal prepared by Chef Brad from Dining Services.

All proceeds go to directly support CARE services and support our KSU students who are suffering from homelessness, food insecurity and/or have experience in the foster care system. This event started at KSU in 2017 and has grown in attendance and money collected each year. This year, 214 bowls were sold totaling $6,180! To date, this event has raised $20,925 for CARE Services to support our KSU students.

  • The KSU Chamber Summit is an opportunity for Chamber Presidents and CEOs to learn about workforce and academic programs offered across KSU's nine colleges and participate in a forum to drive KSU's Economic Development and Community Engagement Strategic Plan.

  • The KSU Day of Service is designed as an opportunity to say thanks to our local community that has supported the university in many important ways throughout its history. Volunteers participate in a variety of projects that meet the specific needs of community organizations throughout Cobb County and Metro Atlanta.

  • “Community Impact Day” is designed to showcase the outreach and engagement efforts across all the colleges and other units (Athletics, Museums, Student Leadership and Service, etc.). This event will bring university-wide attention to the “Community” pillar in the Roadmap to R2 Success. The event is scheduled for April 11th at the KSU Center. More details to come!
